We are always looking for volunteers! Times are tough right now, and volunteering may be the last thing on your mind. But, did you know that you can earn a pension, receive reimbursement for your time, worker's compensation, and Accidental Death and Dismemberment insurance, just for volunteering?
Pension plans are available to those volunteers that meet a minimum requirement of attending 10 drills, and 10% of calls (average of 12 calls per year to meet the minimum) in your designated area. Pensions are provided by the Board of Volunteer Firefighters and Reserve Officers. The board is not affiliated with the Department of Labor and Industries.
The training you receive as a volunteer is priceless. You will be taught CPR and First Aid. You could possibly be an EMT or an Emergency Medical Responder. You will be trained in fighting all sorts of fires and other emergency situations. You may even get to drive one of our Fire Engines!
Come visit during our drills and see if volunteering at our fire district is a good fit for you. Drills are Tuesday evenings at 7 pm.
Mind you it could be time consuming and inconvenient. Especially when you get a call at 3 in the morning and its dark, cold and raining. However, the personal reward or knowing that you are contributing to the community, is priceless!
We now offer 12 hour shifts at $100.00 per shift.
If we can answer any questions that you may have, please call the department at (360) 482-4610.
